Increased Security Measures for Upcoming 2017 J’Ouvert Celebration

The de Blasio Administration, New York Police Department, Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, J’Ouvert City International and elected officials today announced enhanced parade security measures for the 2017 J’Ouvert Celebration, which will step off on Monday, September 4th at 6 A.M. in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

 

“J’Ouvert is a major part of West Indian culture. Finding a compromise which allows it to continue helps preserve the culture while increasing public safety during the festivities here in Brooklyn,” said  Musa Moore, Chairman, Community Board 9.
