Guidance Re: NY State Liquor Authority 30-Day Advance Notice Protocol

Date posted: March 26, 2020

Community Partners,

As most Community Board offices are currently closed (including ours), it is unlikely that we are able to accept any notices sent via certified mail at this time.

Community Boards require applicants send their offices the 30-day advance notice via certified mail for SLA applications and there are other instances in which certified mail is normally required.

However, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, SLA has ruled that an email is acceptable. The CB must notify individuals that the CB will accept emails in lieu of certified mail. Emails can be accepted in all instances in which certified mail was the normal requirement.

In addition, the Community Board will have to acknowledge receipt of any applicant intending to submit an application to SLA, as well as acknowledge receipt of any email in which a certified mail receipt was the norm.
