The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) is inviting not-for-profit organizations, state and local governments, public authorities, public and private operations of public transportation services, and federally-recognized tribal governments to apply for Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) funding.
Please note that Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant programs are reimbursement programs. Successful applicants are required to pay all project expenses first, and then apply for reimbursement through the designated recipient.
The goal of the JARC program is to improve access to transportation services to employment sites and employment-related activities for welfare recipients and eligible low-income individuals, and transport residents of urbanized areas and non-urbanized areas to employment opportunities in suburban areas. Such services may include, but are not limited to: mobility management; and expansion of current transportation services.
Applications and overview guidance are available as of April 27, 2010 on the NYMTC website, www.nycmtc.org. Deadline for receipt of applications is May 19, 2010.

Packed into an hour and 15 program, the Music With A Message band would perform several songs to get your kids smiling, singing, and clapping. After the band motivates the kids to improve their communities, a health educator would generate a discussion and an information session on asthma with the campers. Concluding the program would be a half-hour workshop to train children to be asthma prevention advocates. During this hands-on workshop, children would be learning about the symptoms, causes, and treatment of asthma, as well as a plan of action. Models, posters, demonstrations, and a trivia wheel will be major modes of instruction and engagement for the asthma workshop. Who? The band is comprised of 21 multi-talented kids ranging from the age of 7 to 21 years old. They recently performed at Madison Square Garden, Bronx Week, and last years U.S. Open. What? We plan to do a series of 50-60 FREE concerts throughout the summer. Music With A Message would like to reach out to all people, young, and old, in densely populated communities with songs theyve written as well as, positive and popular songs everyone can recall. We will partner with St. Barnabas Hospital and Bronx Lebanon Hospital in educating thousands of people on the affects of asthma. Where? We hope to spread music all over New York City, and even beyond. Housing developments, parks, beaches, schools, camps, block parities, sporting, and social events are just some of the locations that will be reached. When? The entire summer, starting NOW! If you are interested in having the Music With A Message Asthma Initiative come to your summer camp for FREE (donations accepted), please call us at (718) 450-3466, email Ashley at Ashley.musicwam@gmail.com, or Cylinda at cylinda.musicwam@gmail.com.
