BROOKLYN COMMUNITY BOARD 9 HOSTS HOUSING EDUCATION FORUM AND FREE WORKSHOPS TO ASSIST TENANTS AND HOMEOWNERS
Brooklyn Community Board 9 will be hosting a public forum on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 9:00AM until 3:00PM, to offer members of the community an opportunity to get an update from New York State Senator Jesse E. Hamilton III, Assembly Member Walter Mosley and Assembly Member Diana C. Richardson, on current and pending legislative items in Albany, New York, related to housing.
Free workshops will also be held and moderated by representatives from NHS of East Flatbush, Legal Aid, South Brooklyn Legal Services, NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and Department of Finance, New York State Homes and Community Renewal, Housing Court Supervising Judge Cheryl J. Gonzales, among other housing and legal experts, on such topics as: Tenants Rights, Rent Subsidy Programs, Preferential Rent, Succession Rights, HPD Violations, Home Repairs, Tax Lien, Mortgage Assistance, and more.
Representatives from the NYC Department of Finance will be available to offer onsite assistance to homeowners who are currently on the Tax Lien Sale list to avoid the Lien Sale scheduled for May 12, 2016. Click here to download the event flyer.
