The Brooklyn Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) office, currently located at 80 DeKalb Avenue will be temporarily relocated to 98 Flatbush Avenue, 1st floor. HRA is in the process of developing permanent space for the HEAP office at 94 Flatbush Avenue for next year's HEAP winter season. This HEAP office will continue to provide assistance to Brooklyn low income homeowners and renters to pay bills for heating fuel, equipment and repairs. The Visiting Nurse Regional Health Care System is currently sponsoring a free training program for Home Health Aides and guaranteed job placement for those who successfully complete it.

Each participant will receive one week of computer and language training skills and three weeks of hands-on classroom training, leading to New York State certification as a Home Health Aide, at Allen Health Care Services.

Qualifications:

  • Be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Meet TANF income and family guidelines (must be pregnant, non-custodial parent of a minor, or living with children under 19 years)
  • Read and write English on at least a 6th grade level
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Provide 2 letters of reference
