Committees are comprised of board members and members of the community. They address issues pertaining to parks, public safety, transportation, economic development, the environment, and others. Committee meetings are open to the public.

Below is a list of Brooklyn Community Board 9's Committees and their descriptions.

197-a
Chair: Michael Cetera, AIA 
The 197-a Committee is chaired by Michael Cetera and is responsible for the development of a master plan for Community District 9

Economic Development
Chair: Jenay Alejandro 
The Economic Development Committee is chaired by Jenay Alejandro and serves the needs of constituents by planning for economic revitalization in the community.

Education
Chair: Demetrius Lawrence 
The Education Committee is chaired by Demetrius Lawrence, Sr. and is responsible for assisting district schools in getting necessary funding for improving school buildings, etc.

Environmental Protection
Chair: Vacant 
The Environmental Protection Committee is responsible for reviewing and monitoring sanitation services

Executive
Chair: Rabbi Jacob Goldstein 
Committee comprizes elected officers of Community Board 9

Health and Social Services
Chair: Dwayne Nicholson 
The Health and Social Services Committee is chaired by Dwayne Nicholson and is responsible for conducting needs assessments, including services for health, youth, senior citizens, infants, homeless and the handicapped.

Housing
Chair: Gwen Carter 
The Housing Committee is chaired by Gwen Carter and seeks to ensure the rights of residents and to foster development in the area.

Parks, Recreation and Culture
Chair: Michael Cetera, AIA 
The Parks and Recreation Committee is chaired by Michael Cetera, AIA, and reviews park design, advocates for additional open space, and ensuring that the parks in the community are clean and safe.

Public Safety
Chair: Rosemarie Perry 
The Public Safety is Chaired by Rosemarie Perry and seeks to ensure that the public's safety is addressed by discussing issues of concern with Police, Fire and EMS

Transportation Committee
Chair: Edmund Fanning 

Keep abreast of all transportation matters within the district, including the need for street improvement projects, public transportation, capital projects, pedestrian safety, etc.


ULURP
Chair: Michael Cetera, AIA 
The ULURP Committee deals with Land Use and Zoning issues and is currently chaired by Michael Cetera.

Youth Services
Chair: Dion Ashman 
The Youth Services committee is chaired by Dion Ashman. Typical responsibilities include conducting district-wide youth services needs assessments, develop plans for filling gaps in youth services, etc.
